Hello everyone,

I would I have used instant ocean before and it didn't look like that. Try reef crystals, hear nothing but good things on here re that brand and I liked it when I made my water a few weeks back to fill the tank for the cycle.

Good luck

This happened to my Reef Crystals batch, too. Funny thing it was perfectly white when I bought it.

After some research I concluded that it must have been due to humidity getting into the salt mix, which makes sense, considering that I didn't properly seal the bag (being a newbie) and that the place where I live is very humid.

Your salt mix is probably humid, not faulty, which isn't that much of a bad thing, but not a good thing either.

Yupe I think thats the problem, the weather here in UAE "especially in summer" Is really horrible it can get really humid and the temperature can reach up to 60 celsius and I am not exaggerating, but i opened it in my house so the leak might have happened in the shop.

Wow. I'd like to know how you keep your tank's temperature under control in that kind of weather, but that's for another topic.

it's fine. go ahead and use it.

and fwiw, don't sweat the IO vs. Reef Crystals thing. Make the change only if you need to later on. It's perfectly OK to do so. :)
