TristanC
I switched to this tank about a month ago, i am running an ac70 with chemipure and a reef octopus bh1000 that has only been on for a week, it is pulling skimmate though. I am getting a lot of algae on the glass, i clean it off with my mag float and an hour later it has a layer of algae on it. Params- Temp-78.6 Salinity(refractometer)-1.025 Nitrate-0 Ammonia-0 Nitrite-0 Calcium-420 Phosphate-less than .25 I use RO/DI for top offs, and i have an MP10 for flow. I had a mini cycle but it went away within two days of the new tank set up. What is going on? By the way i only have two clown, so bioload is not a whole lot. Link to comment

Asureef
.....bump...... mater change and add purigen? would that help? What color is the algae? I normally only need to clean my glass once a week during water change. Link to comment
StevieT
Film algae? That is normal I clean it off daily Link to comment
HecticDialectics
Balance your nutrients... tests are useless imo. How well did you clean and cycle the live rock? How and what do you feed? Link to comment
Old Gregg
When my glass has the normal film algae growing on it I don't scrape it off. It remains floating about and much of it which doesn't get sucked up in the protein skimmer and filter floss will re-settle wherever it can. Try using a plain old paper towel and slowly wipe the film away. Be careful to keep applying pressure to the glass otherwise the algae will float off before you pull it out of the tank. I'd rather get as much out as possible this way rather than having it float about. It's a more hands on way of nutrient export Link to comment

TristanC
Yes its green film algae, i have to clean it twice a day sometimes.. I feed brine and spirulina every other day. The rocks came from my other tank which was running for 6 months, its been almost a month since i switched to this tank. I also only have two turbo snails and some hermits, along with two cleaner shrimp. I ordered a cud from reafcleaners yesterday should be here tomorrow. i have a big feeling my cud could never keep up with my tank. Also I'm taking out those damn turbos...all they do is knock over my acans.... Thanks for the reply guys Link to comment
bensanders
it's all about nutrients. limit them and you'll see the algae disappear Link to comment
