Help in chicago

Trauma

Recommended Posts

Hello I am hoping this is the right place to ask for help.

I have a 24 gallon nano that I have had for about a year. For the first 6 months everything was fine with the tank and I was very happy with it.

My father then fell very ill and I was not able to keep up with the tank for about 3 months now.

The tank is a wreck and I feel overwhelmed.

If there is anyone in the Chicago area that could help I would really appreciate it. I would be more than

Happy to pay for the time you spend helping me with the tank. I just want to restore it to great condition for my coral and fish.

Thanks

I understand wanting someone to help you, but this is only a 24 gallon tank. Do a 100 % water change and remove the dead things. Description of the problems and photos help to guide us.

Well when I started the tank I was a complete

Newbie to the hobby. I did not setup a good way to do water changes. I am getting my water from target in thought it was ok because it said purified but talking to people I have learned that it's not what I need.

I have green threads all over the tank it's everywhere I tried taking it

All out and water changes but it just keeps coming back.

The reason I am asking for help is I just want to setup everything correctly for the tank. I'm sure I need some sort of ro/di system and I'm not sure how to install one. I guess I'm just looking

For good advice from a local reefer and need help with setup.

Since I have no friends in the hobby and I spend most of my free time with my father since he is

Ill I could really use some help and I would be happy to pay for it. I am overwhelmed

With the tank.

Thanks

if I lived closer I wouldn't mind helping. But Peoria's still a few hours drive. you can always ask me though through PM's. I'm on here everyday, all day. An Ro/DI unit would benefit you greatly though. most of the companies that sell them are a good source to ask questions. I know that a few of them are willing to walk you through the process of installation. just a matter of you having to dive in. They really aren't that hard to install. looks a lot more complicated than it really is.

Have you checked your area for saltwater service companies? Get references and ask questions about what their service includes? I use one and will until I am comfortable doing it all myself. I do my own top offs and clean the tank with the mag floats. I had to ease into putting my (gloved) hands in the tank and now I'm alot more comfortable with my tank and don't freak at every little thing.

A service would help your tank and keep your time free to spend with your father and help you with the knowlege you need until you can take it over again. Just a suggestion and good luck.

Hmm never thought of this I guess I just figured they would not service a small tank. I will check into it thanks for the idea.

However if there is anyone in the Chicago area that can help ( i live by Brookfield zoo )

Let me know I would appreciate it.
