gojk
Hey all, I have a pretty new 40b with a 20g sump and 60lbs of rock and 60 lbs of sand. It has been up and running for about 2 months. This tank will be a mixed reef, I already have some SPS and LPS in the tank and all appear to be doing well. I have a reef octo recirc skimmer rated for 110g tank as I do want a fairly heavily stocked tank. Along with the skimmer, I have set up my doser to start dosing vodka, but I am only in the first stages of the dosing. Now to my question, I am curious what peoples thoughts are on stocking this tank with fish. Currently have 2 - Chromis(had 3 but the little one turned up missing after about a week) 1 - Resplendent Anthia( was slow eating the first few days, but eats really well now. I feed Rods food) 1 - Tailspot blenny(awesome little guy) My current plans for additions. Keep in mind that this isn't solid, which is why I am asking here and the order in which these will be added will be decided once I have a solid stocking list. 1 - Sunrise or Neon dottyback 2 - Clowns(I have a black clown in another tank that will be moved here when the time is right) 1 - Purple Firefish 1 - Hi-fin yellow banded goby 2 more open water swimmers(maybe 1 or 2 fairy or flasher wrasses) Link to comment
ry05coupe
Just remember that the dottybacks can be agressive, but they are very pretty! Also as I'm sure you know, the Anthias will add a fair bit to the bioload because of how much they need to eat. With vodka dosing, a fuge and a bubble magus nac6 skimmer I have found that the max for my 40b is 10 smaller fish. Every system is different though. I think wrasses are a valuable tool for a reef tank aswell, especially the ones that eat quite a few pests, so definitely look into that. Link to comment
