awpong
I'm finally looking to invest in a proper camera to adequatly display the epicness of my fishtank. By proper, I mean better than my cell phone. I have noticed over the years that the best pictures are all taken with a DSLR. What is a decent price to spend on such a device that will capture my aquatic friends. Also, do I even NEED to invest in the DSLR technology, are there suitable (less expensive) alternatives that will let me do what I need to do to take awesome pictures. Also, what features are a MUST HAVE for a camera. I have done research on the forum's search thread, but I'd like to hear it from the professionals directly. Link to comment

Withers
I'd get a high end point and shoot in your situation. I like the Canon G series myself. A DSLR is a huge investment and not really necessary for the majority of people. Link to comment

The lens in my G12 is leagues better than a DSLR with a kit lens selling for twice the price or more. Link to comment
