Getting Temp. down

First time posting, be nice please... LOL

So I set up a JBJ Nano 28G LED last week and I cannot manage to get the temp down on it. Tight now it has stabilized at 84F. I keep the house at around 80F during the day and 75F at night. Over the weekend, I kept the house at 75F and my temp didn't budge a bit.

I live in S FL and the summers here can be brutal, what are you all doing to keep your cubes at a decent temp?

TIA

If you have it covered, that limits your options a bit. Open the feeding door and blow a fan across it for evaporation (which will cool the water but increase your need for top-offs), or invest in a chiller (which requires more energy and can increase the ambient temperature of your room).

EDIT: Also, you've probably done this already, but make sure your heater isn't malfunctioning and overheating the water. Does seem a bit strange that the temps would be that high if your ambient temperature is 75-80.

The feeding door is tiny, would it make that big of a difference? I would assume as soon as I turn that fan off the temp would just go up again....

I don't have a heater in the tank....

I have though about the chiller, was just hoping it wouldn't come to that...

I'm not too familiar with the JBJ tanks, but do the back chambers open up separately from the display area? In that case, I'd say open that up and direct a fan over that area. Otherwise, try the feeding door. It's a small area but it may help a bit.

It seems like alot of cube people have issues with the temp. Being a closed system, the heat really doesn't really have anyplace to go, and the stock fans in the hoods really don't seem to do a very good job of displacing the heat. I've got a 14g and leave the feeder door open 24/7. I've also found a "C" shaped piece of plastic that fits over the lip of the tank pretty snug that I use the create a small gap between the tank and the hood - that allows additional air flow and does seem to have lowered my tank temp a good 2-3 degrees.

How long are you running your lights?

I'll try that when I get home... I'll find something temporarily to lift the cover.

I run the following schedule

Turn on:

Moonlights 1:00pm

Dawn/Dusk 2:00pm

Daylight 3:00pm

Turn off:

Daylight 9:00pm

Dawn/Dusk 10:00pm

Moonlights 11:00pm

I have the refugium lights on 24/7...
