matt the fiddler
so yea- anyone hear about taking the clownfish clips and putting them near a potential host? [fooling them into thinking other clowns are hosting a potential host] well,- since i don't have any of those clips. and thought it seemed a bit shady.. i printed a clownfish picture on the internet. [smaller than mine :-)] and taped it right out side the glass for 2 days "behind" the colt. removed it 2 days ago- and last night she is definatly definatly hosting it- taking naps in it, not leaving, etc. can't swear that the pic was what did it- as she avoided it once she figured out what it was.. stayed across the tank, on top of the powerhead... however, the clown and same colt have been together for 8-9 months with out this happening. 25 gallon, false perc probably a year or older, colt coral 9" high. Reefism
I just got a rose bta over the weekend and I was thinking about doing the same thing with my false percs.. already found a nice picture on rc with a rose with clowns and everything. Link to comment

trmiv
I've tried printing a picture on the internet and taped to the glass and only managed to #### off my clown. It spent most of it's time "attacking" this new intruder until I moved it. Link to comment
matt the fiddler
ws it a pic of a female that was larger than it? not sure if it is behaviooral, hormonal, but something makes 2 females NOT live hapily together... mabye it felt like that? Link to comment
jmt
When I first read this, I kind of chuckled to myself and said "Yeah right...". I have a skunk clown and a condy in my tank. I know that condy's do not naturally host clowns. The skunk I got was hosting a BTA at the LFS, but I couldn't afford to pay their rediculous price. The skunk has always eyeballed the condy since moving in, but never actually hosted in it. He stays in the general vacinity of it however, and I see him brush through it from time to time. So, I don't think the condy is stinging him. I taped a picture of a smaller skunk clown on the tank by the condy and the clown has started showing extreme interest. If this works, I'm stumped. -Justin PS - Don't tell me the clown will be eaten, etc. Shut up. Link to comment
trmiv
Not sure if it's a female or what, but it was a tiny bit larger. Link to comment
matt the fiddler
that migh tbe your problem.. the idea is to make it appear smaller than the original, incase you have a female, that way the existign female will not feel threatened,,,, [if you have an mature clown in isolation, which turns into a female by nature] Link to comment
