lgreen
Hi, If money is not an issue, what is the best filtration to use for a 12 gallon eclipse (the old rectangle, not bowfront kind)? Should i just use the over top or should i add a skimmer or add a refugium or some or all? I can also modify the hood so space is not an issue i just want to know what would work best and make the coral and fish happiest. thanks, lgreen Link to comment
WhiteRat
If money is not an issue ... Well, if money is not an issue, then: A Remora or CPR set to skim really dry will help keep your water clearer and prevent surface sliming. A refugium will improve your tank's resilience by increasing water volume, adding more sandbed surface area, giving you a place to harvest macroalgae from for nutrient support, and if you set it up right, creating a great 'pod farm to feed your fish. It's like saying 'If money is no object, should I get the Ferrari with the big displacement engine, or the Ferrari with the big displacement engine AND the improved suspension, or the Ferrari with the big displacement engine AND the improved suspension AND the great stereo system?' They're all great things to have, but a combination of them would be best. Ratty Ratty's Reef Link to comment
