I already purchased the Bio Cube skimmer (I had it ordered before I found this great forum. I'd go with macros, just becauase i'm a firm belevier that they do much more good than skimmers. Skimmers just pull out the dissolved organic matter that would be converted through the nitrogen cycle from ammonia to nitrates, then absorbed by teh macroalgae. You can effectively use macroalgae as filtration because they are part of teh natural process of the nitrogen cycle, where as with a skimmer you're just pulling out premature nutrients that haven't even been converted into ammonia Link to comment

Gundad68 Posted August 6, 2011 Author Share Posted August 6, 2011 plus, the biocube skimmers are not too great, i've never used it, but it's gotten a pretty bad rap by people who have.Yea they dont sound that great ,im going to try to use it (cant return it),if it works fine if it dont 40 bucks down the drain.I like your frog tank ive had reptiles an frogs all my life,my son has a 30 gal long waterfall tank with 2 firebelly toads ,a catfish an a few more fish doing great.i have the same tank with a Leopard Gecko in it for 3 or 4 years.
