i just found a single aiptasia on a piece of some wood with a big healthy colony of eagle eye zoas growing on it.

i plan on transferring over this piece of wood to my 28g today, but obviously i would like to get rid of the aiptasia first. i can put it in a bowl with some tank water and go to work. but once i transfer the wood the aiptasia is gonna pop into its hole. i can put it in the bowl and wait till it comes back out, but then what?

i don't have a syringe or aiptasia x... is there any at home remedies i can utilize?

I use Aiptasia X, it works great for me. You can try lemon juice, but you need to have a syringe I believe. Can you see it's stump? Or is it inside of the wood? Do you have a pic you can post of it?

I used boiling water and turkey baster with great results. Make sure the coral doesnt come in contact with the hot water.

Lucas in alaska

I had some aiptasia when I purchased a zoa frag and was wondering the same thing. I purchased two peppermint shrimp and put them in my tank. Woke up the next day and the aiptasia was gone and I haven't seen any come back since. Get a peppermint shrimp and it will take care of it naturally without chemicals.

if you can see the hole that it retracts into, take a nail/wire and stab into it a bit. that should kill the sucker. and to be sure it won't come out, take superglue and seal the hole. easy enough. =)

Same here. It bleached out the spot around the hole where he was hiding in, but it killed his a$$ dead. Safe for the other occupants in the tank too.

bad idea. any little bits that leave the hole can spawn into new ap's and thats just more of a PITA to get control of. try a wild pep.

Gob frag glue in and around the hole it's in. This will kill it dead and then when covered with coralline it will look like rock. This is the easiest fix if you can see where it is.
