20H De-rim?

So... I was moving my 20H around a few minutes ago trying to make a stand for it that works well. Turns out the guy who cut my Boards cut them off... by alot, so I've been trying to figure out how I'm going to have the tank rest on top of the stand I'm building.

Anyway... I turned the tank over to double check the board fits after sanding the corners a bit... and low and behold, the Rim pulls off at the corner... and keeps coming off. Just the bottom though. SO I dont know what to do. I'm supposed to have this tank set-up in 3 hours. I have someone coming to purchase my 55 gallon, which some of its' inhabitants are being moved to the 20H as I'm not selling them.

What do I do? Is it safe to use without the bottom rim? It fits better on the boards, heh, but I'm worried about it.

do these boards come up at all and support the glass from bowing or anything? If it does you should be fine. My one bud derimmed his entire 20 high and it has some bowing and is still good i think but its risky since the glass is not meant to support all that water without the rims.

Negative. Doesnt come up. Just a 2x12 that it was going to rest on. And now that I take a closer look at the silicone on the bottom, I probably need a new tank entirely. Its starting to peel away from the glass. And I can see areas underneath the glass that look like air... FML.

^1+ don't buy a new tank immediately just to fill the void of this one. Use a cheap plastic tote for now. Remember plastic insulates better the glass and some heaters will warm it up much quicker.

BTW Mr. Aqua has 17.6 gallon rimless tanks for like 40 bucks more than most LFS sell normally 20H
