Ugh -.- Then this will be a hard decision.. 2 par30's or the metal halide.. I'll have to change the bulb once a year, and it consumes more electricity than the LED's... hmmm.... Link to comment
Philip271
yeah, 2 of those par30's would be my vote. long term costs will be way less, there's also way less heat and the colors of corals will look way better under blue LEDs. Link to comment
then00b
Ok, thanks guys! I guess I'll need some saving up to do Link to comment

then00b
A DIY fixture may be cheaper. I was considering that too, but I don't know how to put the wires together, what wires go where, how many cree's to use.. what encasement to hide the driver, heater sink, wires, etc. I don't want to risk burning down my house If I get detailed instructions from somewhere, that lighting option is a possibility. ry05coupe
par 30 is my vote, MH is out dated For smaller tanks I would agree. MH is still the best choice for large tanks though and some people (myself included) still prefer MH to LED overall. For this tank I voted LED though just because of the size. It woudn't make sense to run a MH. Link to comment
