Spectrapure, or BRS, IMO.

Seems like BRS has a good reputation and with them I could but the unit and ATO and only have to pay for one shipping.

Is the standard that much better than the economy?

So... I think ...dry construction is done. :happydance:

She could be wet by the end of this weekend.

Correction: dry construction is done. A weird turn of events prevented me from doing what I had in mind but realized the next few steps would take care of anything dry didn't. :ninja:

Since it's not 100% done and I'm relying on the next steps to finalize things I am holding off.

Also part of me wants to reveal the finished product and then show how it was done. Either way we are looking at a picture dump in what I'm hoping is a week's time or less. I should have the lights hung tomorrow, the 20 moved, the 40 in place, and some water in it. Sunday I will hopefully have sand and dry rock in it, after that I will be adding the livestock into the 40 all at once I think. And then using some epoxy to finalize some sort of scape and once the water is clear it will be picture time!

Ballz you're too funny

Speaking of pee, do I have to pee in the 40 breeder now that I have LEDs? I've been peeing in the 20 because the guy at the LFS told me that since I'm using T5 I need to pee in the tank weekly to make up for my lights.

Once it splits my plan is to pizza cut the new one and end up with a bunch. When your crazy pokadotted ones sprout new ones I'll will totally trade you :)

The color on it is hard to show, it's more metallic green than my pictures show.

That's a deal!

My new plan of attack on the algae is 6hr. photo-period, chemi-pure elite, and twice weekly waterchanges, and less food. I can't not feed the tank everyday. I just don't think it's fair to my fish. Not sure what the effect will be on the mushrooms/corals. I have a feeling the growth will slow down though so it may take a while for my polka-dots to be ready to go.

Going for the overflow box I see? Any reason other than not wanting to drill?

Also can't wait for super awesome scaping

Going for the overflow box I see? Any reason other than not wanting to drill?

The biggest reason to not drill was I already had the overflow and a pump that is matched to its flow. That alone was reason enough but there are a few reinforcing points. I've already spent a lot and replacing a cracked tank is not a risk I want to take, I am so bad at DIY that any drilling or plumbing would result in failure (immediately or down the road), and the cherry on top is the fact that the only shop around here that drills does a crappy job, charges $20 a hole, will not replace a tank if they break it, and is run by the biggest freaking asshat in existence. He consistently screws over would-be long term customers for a quick one time gain.

[rant]He has personally ripped me off three times: once when my sump pump quit and I needed a replacement ASAP and the only pump he had that could used cost well over what it's worth, once when I needed to sell a 18" pacu he said he would buy when we get there he won't pay me and I knew he wouldn't make the trip back, and now the final straw was when my friend and I went to trade finger leather frags under the agreement of frag for frag soft corals, he "forgets" we had a deal and offers us $5 a piece when his softies are $20-30. -_- I'd rather set fire to money than give him business. [/rant]

Well then...

Thats perfect reasoning

As I'm sure you're aware be sure to do plenty of power outage tests

Haha yeah, this was my filter for my 75 all three times (reef, CA/SA cichlids and oddballs, current Africans) and the only time it flooded during an outage was when my dad saw the siphon break on my return line as a hole and patched it :haha:

I got called at around 2:30am at college with my mom freaking out because they stopped the influent siphon and couldn't figure out why water was still pouring in. That was the difference between 7.5 gallons and 28  so I'm planning on an outage siphoning of an additional 4 gallons and the filter empty will hold about 25.

I'm pretty set on buying the ato so I'm also going to be less tempting to overfill the sump to keep the water even. B)
