JoelRHale
The chalice looks the best of the ones I'm iffy on, the monti looks the worst. But I'm not writing any of them off. Coral survive very harsh conditions in the wild and I think we don't give them enough credit. There are incredibly thriving acro fields that spend time out of the water baking in the sun during low tide. I'm sure they will surprise me with their drive to survive. Link to comment
iball1804
You are very optimistic. Too bad it's a whole different ball game with tanks. I don't think that logic applies here. Link to comment
JoelRHale
Mainly because being pessimistic doesn't help. It does happen in tanks though, my purple mushrooms were shriveled for 4 months before coming back. They are already showing PE, including the monti, even though it's only 4 polyps it will grow back and be just fine in a few months. The plate is showing some as well. Clean water, good movement, dim, but present lights and all I can do is sit back and hope. You should take note, you're not allowed to be a cynic at 15. Link to comment
JoelRHale
Now that my cleaner shrimp has made a once over on the new frags I am hopeful about everything except the hydno. The Dragon's Revenge is the best of the bunch: Just keep sending the good vibes Link to comment

pismo_reefer
Damn.... I really hope those perk up. They looked so much better when they left. ------------------ Fwiw, the alternator, in my K5, caught on fire today. Link to comment
JoelRHale
Damn.... I really hope those perk up. They looked so much better when they left. It's cool man, just send the good vibes. the bag was *really* cold when I got it. All coral has attached flesh and I'm pretty sure at least 75% will make it. the monti and hydno are in terrible shape and the Leptastrea has a ways to go but all else looks good. How does that happen? Is it an easy fix? Oh, and what are your lights on? I choked down to 25/25 for light acclimation but want to build up to your level and then wait a while before taking it higher. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
How does that happen? An alternator is only gonna last 2-3 years, in a high demand application. I.e., 150w off-road lights, 2x400w amps, 400w sub, MSD ignition components, etc. Add mud/water covering it every weekend, and you're gonna see the shorter side of that life span. Mud+Water+2yr old Alt.= FIRE!!! Is it an easy fix? Yea... Re- wiring all the junk, that I've been putting off for 6 months is the "difficult" part. Now that I have to replace the Alt., It would be stupid not to rewire the engine bay. No more putting it off.... Oh, and what are your lights on? I choked down to 25/25 for light acclimation but want to build up to your level and then wait a while before taking it higher. W-50%, B-100%.... (Using eggcrate diffuser, same as you are.) In that shape, they should be fine. It's more the side effects of the temp swing that worries me. 40hr rated, my A$$... Link to comment

JoelRHale
Your K5 is a beast! I'm worried about the temp swing too but I temp acclimated them for 30 minutes so it was a nice slow change. You can judge them for yourself: I was happy to still see green once all the stuff came off: The monti has like 4 polyps out, there's hope for it: Nothing to be worried about in the next two pictures: Chalice looks good, I think? Other pictures of old coral being happy (notice the pods): Link to comment
gena
The chalice looks great and I love that plate!!!!! I wish I had that many pods. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
Eesh! That Monti looks like death warmed over... It'll come back, I know it will.... It's a trooper. That first shot (green) is actually a "Psammacora".... I was mistaken before, when I called it a Hydno. It doesn't look that bad.... It looked amazing when it left, but it'll come back. That stuff is usually bullet-proof. The Dragon-eye, and Prizm Favia's looked PO'd, but healthy. Recovery should be fast with those two. They like lower lighting.... Example: Light that makes mushiez happy. The Chalice had a DRAMATIC loss of Xooanthellae in shipping. Fwiw, I got it as a semi- bleached frag, and it colored up to the way it appears in my photo's, in ~ a week. I kept the Chalice in the shadow of the Frogspawn, and it was more than happy with that.... So low-exposure, moderate PAR..... Link to comment

If we all believe hard enough they will They were SUPER healthy when they left..... They'll live. That's my thought process exactly: confident outside, desperately hoping inside Summed up in three faces The chalice looks great and I love that plate!!!!! I wish I had that many pods. Now they just need to recover, and having that many pods is super easy, just kill all your fish Link to comment

I have a good feeling about everyone's will to survive and will place the coral according to your suggestions. I assume the more important thing to do now is not to touch them and let them start to color up and not worry about placement, right? Link to comment
Flexin5
cool looking frags bro! loving the colors on them. hopefully they will all pull thru. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
What's the one in the monti picture? Is that the tyree piece? That's the Tyree Leptastrea. They look like crap, when bothered, so I'm not shocked that it looks like that right now. That one is the "if only one thing lives, it this one" coral. I've had Leptastrea's just appear on liverock, that was previously in a ZERO husbandry environment. The Plate looks good.... Not great, but good. Put it in a mid-flow spot on the sand, and leave it alone. Srsly.... Try not to move it, It'll heal up. The tentacles are finicky at first. You feed a lotta good stuff, So I'm sure it'll be eating in no time. Link to comment

JoelRHale
No, no, no..... What I'm saying is: If it looks dead, it's not..... It's just waiting to rise from the grave. Haha, I figured that's what you meant I'll just let it do it's thing. Link to comment
Deckoz2302
hmmm I run all my colors at 100%....and Ill have optics soon....Im trying to give my corals sunburn but they just keep getting brighter and growing faster. Lol I hope I don't burn the clam when I put it in next week, its designated platform gets par in the 290s w/o optics lol Link to comment
