briansbelle
aquatic engineer, you may want to take the dome off of that light. with the way the heatsinks are on the par bulbs the dome will cause the light to overheat and can cause your bulbs to stop working or shorten the life span of the leds. almost
YES! FINALLY!! a cold water tank that doesnt look like sh!t. most ppls CW tanks look like a pile of man made bricks with yuck algae and cluttered look. iv opened up bulbs like these an the soldering job an them is sloppy at best.. (im a repair tech) so just be careful or spend $20 more and get boost or evilc bulbs Link to comment
blackreef13
hey zepo hows your coral growth so far and i was wondering i know u have the bulb higher so it can get more coverage but does it still leave shaded sides Link to comment
ganjero
In general, coral polyps extend to catch more light, indicating that this lamp is starving your SPS for light. Jeff In general? not true for sps Link to comment
castiel
I just bought one of these from eBay for my pico. I'll post a review when it arrives! Link to comment

castiel
I finally have this thing mounted. Man it's a heavy beast, took me three lamp attempts to find one that would hold it ... and even then, it is mounted with a clamp and cable ties. Anyone know what % increase/decrease the remote does to the brightness? I'd like to be able to start at say 50%, move up to 60%, then 70%, etc. My rough estimates are about 30 clicks from off to full brightness, so 3-4% each click? Link to comment

blackreef13
bigceez thank you now I dont have to but two of these to get full coverage on my 10 gallon should raise it up higher since the light will be more powerful? Link to comment
castiel
I managed to use a standard desk lamp plus a couple of cable ties - works well. As for the optics ... I would be tempted by some 60 degree as the 30s are too narrow to cover both of my pico tanks properly. But where the mount is I am worried that 90 is too wide ... plus at $9 a pop, you are talking $108?! Surely you would just get a PAR from one of the other sellers instead. I actually wish I had, I love the remote and the 'dimmability', but such narrow optics mean the application is quite limited. Though I guess for one of my tanks it would be perfect. Link to comment
