ry05coupe
Update time. Got rid of the Flameback because it started nipping coral and replaced it with a Pygmy Wrasse. Also added a Yasha goby and a pair of Green banded gobies, taking my fish count up to 9... think I'll be stopping there . Also added an ORA Bird of Paradise frag and a few other things that I can't remember. Pics coming soon. Link to comment

Nah I don't own one, just a dog person and though it was funny. I have two border collie mixes and two beagle mixes. where do you buy your corals from? I look for deals everywhere really. Some came from MVP and Incredipet here in Lex, I also got some from Aquatica and Sandy's pet store in Louisville. Greentree pet center is a big one I go to in clarksville, Indiana (basically louisville). Also get them from guys who sell coral from home and frag swaps. Link to comment
ry05coupe
Just finished up an air injection DIY. Basically you introduce air into the intake of the return pump and it spits mocrobubbles all over the tank. Most people seem to be doing it for 1 or 2 minutes every 3 hours or so. It's main purpose is to let the microbubbles attatch to undissolvec organics, causing them to float to the top and get taken in by the surface skimmer. It also causes the SPS to slime up pretty well, which aparently is a good thing. You can read more about it here: http://www.reefcentral.org/forums/showthre...postid=12313206 here http://www.reefland.com/articles/rho/reefl...quare-challenge and here http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f69/6-...s-chnages-8942/ Most of the info about comes from brief mentions in TOTM articles or whatever but it seemed interesting enough for me to give it a shot. ry05coupe
Will do in a little bit. I'm still working on programing my RLK to work as a timer for it, but it is being a little #####. Link to comment

I haven't read through the posts, but wouldn't a bubble wand on a timer have the same effect or no? Sincere question..... Link to comment
ry05coupe
Probably, but the you would have a bubble want in your DT with tubing running to it. I also imagine that the bubbles put out by the return are smaller than those from a bubble want and probably wouldn't be as well spread through out the tank. Here is a good video of it (not mine): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY1r_d126Z4 Link to comment
ry05coupe
Here are some pics of the air injection in action from start to finish (60 seconds): I wish I could get more spread, but with only one return nozzle it is kinda tough. Link to comment

ry05coupe
Air pump hooked up to a timer: Though the back of the stand into the sump: Down to the return pump (note, I am using one of those air control valves to control the ammount of air that gets into the return pump, too much and it will lock up): Top down shot of return pump and fittings: Front shot: Basically, I have a PVC T connected to the intake of my return pump, and I have a John Guest push fitting connected to the top of the tee (this is what the airline tubing from the air pump connects to). When the air pump turns on, a limited amount of air is pushed into the return pump, chopped up, then carried by the return flow into the tank. Link to comment
saraswati
Lol, still say I accomplish the same thing when I forget to top off Link to comment
ermartin
Dang I was hoping you didnt do it this way Unfortunatly I dont have a sump as i have a Solana. Im thinking ill have to figure out how to run an airline to my intake but that add on is too big to fit where my pump sits. Back to the drawing board.... how long and how often are you running this Link to comment

Back to the drawing board.... how long and how often are you running this You could literally just run the air line into the intake of the return pump if you want, I was just looking for a way to make sure that all of the bubbles went into the return and a way to make it one unit. This is just one way of doing it, I'm sure there are a ton of others! Lol, still say I accomplish the same thing when I forget to top off I can automate this though Link to comment
