Polscot
took some pics of the harley since hes roaming around at night, used the flash on the camera so u can see his real undistorted colors, i had a problem with the overflow not properly working so i had to glue a piece of acrylic to cover 50% of it, making the overflow acctually skim the surface of the water ill take a pic tomoro too tired now Link to comment
Drift Monkey
Man I really gotta find a cheap local source for chocolate chip stars! Link to comment
Polscot
Man I really gotta find a cheap local source for chocolate chip stars! well i only feed him a 1.5x1cm piece a week and hes thriving, so a full chocolate chip really would last you prolly 2 months if you cup it up right, Link to comment
Polscot
some pices of how i fixed the oxerflow/skimmer, b4 the water level would sit at the same level on both sides of the wall creating a stagnent looking surface as it wasnt operating as a proper surface skimmer...... the Acrylic piece dosent look the best but eventually it'll get covered by coralline and i might even copy a fellow reefer and plant GSP on the back wall Link to comment
mmcguffi
Nice mod. I had one of these for a day or two and I didnt understand the purpose of that small little hole near the bottom. I guess it was just to reduce flow? Good looking tank! Your making me want to go and buy one again lol Link to comment
javisaman
Just subscribed to this thread. I'm looking to see how the Harlequin shrimp does in a pico. I've got a fluval spec as well and debating if I should either do an inverts or a dwarf seahorse tank. Either way there will be no corals, just live rock and macro algae. Link to comment
Polscot
been bout 3 months now and hes healthy and growing feed him 1/4 star fish leg a week ill post some pics tomorro the tank has become a breeding ground for pods lol so it needs a good cleaning Link to comment
javisaman
Where do you keep the rest of the starfish? I was thinking maybe getting a few chocolate chips and keeping them in my sump of the larger tank (20gal + 10). I don't know how much bioload they add though. I'd chop a leg off every week to feed a harlequin in the fluval spec. Link to comment
Polscot
i just keep them in my biocube mantis tank, 1 leg a week untill hes only got 1 left then into the freezer and cut up the rest of the body, then new starfish omnce its done, bout 1.5 months for 1 starfish so its pretty cheap, Link to comment
