arduino and thermal sensors

hey guys, I have spare sensors like this:

how would i connect this up to the arduino? through the analog pin and gnd? do i need a resisistor?

 

if someone could id the type of sensor this cable is it would be much appreciated

Chances are it's a K-type thermocouple. I'm sure the topic has been beaten to death on some of the Aurduino forums.
