belikewaterh20
Hey everyone, after reading about all your great aquariums I decided to get back into the reef game. This is my first post and would like to hear what you guys think about my setup. Everyones input is greatly appreciated. Equipment: 12 gallon rimless (bare bottom) Ecoray 60d led lights Bak Pak skimmer (moded into a filter/fuge w/suface skimmer) lost the skimmer cup 2w led bulb on fuge Filter media: carbon, chemipure, purigen, Poly-Bio-Marine Poly Filter Pad 50w heater diy ato 2 Koralia powerheads (240 and 425) So for this tank I really want to do a SPS and clam dominated tank... Skimmerless? What do you guys think possible? Like i said anyone and everyones input is appreciated. Haven't read too many threads with tanks dominated with sps without a skimmer but if there is someone out there that says its possible I may try it myself. But I do have my eye on the tunze nano skimmer. Please let me know what you think of my lighting, pumps, filter media ect. what would you guys change to help me be successful. Thanks to everyone! I'll post better pics when I find my camera. Thanks again. Link to comment
lilopop11
Welcome to N-R .... Another ECORAY 60D user SPS tank without Skimmer not impossible..But IMO, its a little bit hard to maintain your water parameter especially NO3..Tunze Nano Skimmer is pretty good, go for it... But, its only a newbie opinion.. Link to comment

belikewaterh20
Nice, thanks lilopop11 i might just keep my blues on longer too. Really like the look of the blue. A few days ago I looked at my tank and saw my "moded" bakpak almost overflowed so i decided to take it down and start over with a actual hob filter. So I went with an aquaclear 70 "moded". Copied from a few people online. I think it came out pretty clean. Had it set up for a few days now and working fine but not as quiet as I thought it would be. It just sounds like the impeller is rattling or something. Anyone else have this problem? Link to comment
belikewaterh20
Update on my 12 gallon nano... Added a stunner strip led for more actinic lighting and a Tunze Nano skimmer. Im not to sure on the names of the livestock but i have a few sps, lps, and zoas. Let me know what you think. Thanks. Link to comment
