stshy Posted February 1, 2011 Share Posted February 1, 2011 So I recently filled up my tank, and the water has weird pieces floating around. I have nothing live in it yet. Just dead rock and dead sand. I was wondering, if I put my HOB filter, what could I put in it to take out all those pieces? Would it affect the salt levels? Thanks Link to comment

For the proper cycles, you should start with the live rock and sand, not only does the LR provide filtration, together the LS and LR help the cycle begin... plus if you were planning on doing LR and LS the water will need to be changed once you get it and replace the dead sand and rock Link to comment
