I'm preparing everything for my tank move on friday morning, this is going to be a stressful day.

So I move my tank on friday and i leave for hawaii on saturday. What should I tell my girlfriend to look for in the first couple of days??

Should I tell her to do a water change like on sunday just in case???

OO Hell ya, I cannot wait till I move home. My whole family is here and i love the beach. I'm hoping I go to grad school here, so i can come back in 2 years!! The mainland is only good for snowboarding.

  • 7 months later...

Now that I actually understand reef keeping more I would love to customize my own tank. The main reason I got this tank because I was living in the dorms!

Anyway some updates:

  • I got a JBJ Nano Glo for my fuge, because my DIY one sucked!
  • ordered the Dimmable biocube retrofit from RapidLed, 5 CW and 7 RB
  • Ordered a JBJ ATO

Thanks,

Brandon

Hey I'm thinking of getting a nano set up in my dorm this semester. Got any advice? How doable is moving the tank home for summer and what not?

Thanks!

It's very do able, its a pain in the ass, and you risk killing off some livestock. But it is very doable if you have the patience and the money.

None of my livestock died when I was moving the tank, 2 hours south. However when my gf watched my tank all summer she killed pretty much everything.

I'll answer any questions you have just respond back on this thread!!

Thanks,

Brandon

I built the LEDs and the colors are amazing, corals pop like crazy. Fish are bright.

Pictures in the morning!!

LEDs are awesome, everything is still getting used to the new lights and the addition of the new powerhead. Pictures taken with my new toy the Nikon J1 with macro filters. (Still playing with it to get the best pictures)

Here are some pictures.

Anyone have any good suggestions for next additions??

I would love to do some nice SPS, or a RBTA or a clam.

Suggestions?? My LEDS should be able to support anything!! In theory!!

Back again! Got an 8g aquarium with LEDs... going to start cycling it this week if I can. lets hope it works out!

Anyway... I vote clam! I saw some gorgeous ones today at the store and it was a blast to watch the little hermits get blasted off the mantle when they tried to climb on...
