SurrealReef
ok, so heres the deal. I bought a lees betta cube(not really a cube but more like a hexagon looking thing). I put in a rena 100w smart heater. It is a little bulky but it will definitely keep the water at a steady temperature. I have sand and my water but it isnt in the tank yet. It is going to be completely sealed meaning, no filter at all!!! I tried to look through the garage for my picotope light bot I had no luck. might try to find it again tomorrow but i might just go ahead and buy a 10w mini compact bulb made by coralife. Here are my stocking plans coral-either a bunch of zoas, or a bunch of acans, and chalice.lol cuc-nothing(wouldnt do much for it anyways) What do u guys think bout the heater? Link to comment
will46r
What's the volume on the tank? 100w may be overkill and if it sticks would boil your corals. They make a small pad heater thingy that may work better. Link to comment

.Newman.
yes for a 1/2 gal a terrarium pad to put under the tank is much more space-allowing. Link to comment

I was gunna use it to separate the tank from the refugium but i guess ill just have to improvise. Link to comment
matt frizz
That 100W will probably boil that tank. I had a heater in my old 29G that was meant for a bigger tank and even in the 29 it couldn't keep the temperature right. Link to comment

will46r
Look in the reptile section of your local box store if you can't find the heaters in the aquarium section. Link to comment
SurrealReef
well, its been a while. I had a breakthrough and thought i would share. So i bout a 2.5g tank from petsmart with a glass top. I wanted to do a completely seled, filterless reef here. So...I siliconed the rim for a perfect seal. I wired through the outer rim, a mini rio powerhead and a 25w tetra heater. That is where things began to take a turn...the wires make the lid a son of a gun to get on and off for maintenance, and the lid doesnt seat the way it did before unless i put weight on the lid. so...thast what i did, i have 2 2.5lb round weights i found, sitting on opposite sides of the lid. for lighting i have a 9w pico light sitting on top, but...im thinking about pulling out my dual 18w coralife mini and just having one 18w bulb running on it for twice the light output it has right now. what do you guys/gals think? Ima try to get some pics up and a list of the corals i have in it so far. thanks Link to comment
