Monochrome5
I'm curious as to what to do to store my purchased RO/DI saltwater. I run an 8g BioCube and currently buy pre-made RO/DI salt from my LFS. It comes in 5g containers, and as you can imagine I don't use all 5g for my weekly water changes. What's the best way to store the remaining water? I'm currently keeping it sealed in the jug and sitting in my closet so it (hopefully) won't grow any algae. Eventually I'll get my own RO/DI kit, but I'm a college student and we're all broke So how should it be stored? Should I drop my old pump in there to aerate it? Or would that cause a bunch of evap? I'm doing about 2g of water exchange a week, so the jug doesn't sit around that long... Link to comment
cruiZe
should be fine in the jug as long as you don't mix any tank water in there Link to comment
Genj
close it up, put it in a dark room like a closet and you are good. Link to comment
urbaneks
I buy water for my tank every 4 weeks. I store it in 6g buckets and use one bucket each week. I've never had any issues storing it for this duration. I do throw a heater and a powerhead in the bucket the night before I water change so that its aerated and temped up when I'm ready for it. Monochrome5
Good deal. I'll keep it sealed up and tucked away in the closet until I need it. I drop a heater in about 10-15 minutes before I am ready to use it. Doesn't take long to heat up ~2g haha Link to comment
