newtosw Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 I've had a biocube 14 for over 6 months now and love it. I love the fact that it is a plug and play system. My reef is thriving and am ready to upgrade. I would like to buy a reef ready system. Are there any aquariums people recommend? what about online vendors? Ideally I'd want a 50 gallon setup. Also....I'm terrified at the thought of setting up a sump. I know I can buy one, but its too expensive for me. If I buy a tank that is drilled, what does that even mean? (sorry if thats a dumb question). Can I fill a drilled setup without water leaking if I dont use a sump lol. Link to comment
holdorf333 Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 There is no easy answer as to what tank setup to buy. Your space, experience and budget will all dictate that. The idea of a drilled tank is that the holes for drainage are already drilled into the glass for you from the factory. You would be using a bulkhead to transition from the tank into your plumbing; for both sump supply and return. Use the SEARCH button near the top and look for examples and diagrams of "sump plumbing" and "drilled tanks" for further explanation and visual examples. Link to comment
