crs2k
So I joined the clam club yesterday! So excited. I've done a lot of reading on here and I think I chose a good clam for my tank, and hopefully I'm placing him correctly. I believe this is a small crocea. I know that this is a rock clam but saw that people like to put them on the sand bed, too. I got a small half shell and set him on it so he could attach. Do I need to bury the shell? He falls over sometimes, and I've seen his foot come out but it isn't attached yet. Should I keep propping him back up, or just let him fall to the side and let him do his own thing? Thanks for any feedback and all the great info this site has to offer. Link to comment
monosyth
you can bury the shell a little and him so he's propped up in the sand, he'll attach to the shell in a couple of days. I noticed your clown is hosting your wellso too. Mine sleep on it every night! Link to comment
crs2k
Thanks for the reply. So he'll work his foot through any sand on the shell if I bury it a little? Yeah, my clown loves the open brain. Link to comment
sirbiggstixx
Word and welcome to the clam wagon....i just got a crocea clam yesterday but hasnt come in..yeah it is a rock clam but if your lights are strong enough i dont see a problem putting him in the sand..i plan on putting mine on the rocks under 250 halides...these clams do require the highest amount of light...i also start most corals and stuff on the sand bed and gradually move it around and see where i get the best extension and so on...
