Im currently using a Nova Extreme vho 10k (2x18w) that I have for refug lighting. The bulbs are almost a year old and Im wondering how old they can be for this use? And when I replace them should I use the same or a different color light ?

Swap them at least annually. You can use daylight bulbs (5500K-6500K or there about) for a refugium.

You can go a lot longer than the standard 12 month replacement schedule. Macro algaes care a lot less about spectral shift.
