lkc
Here’s the situation: I’ve had this tank for around 4 years. 3 years ago, I purchased a Mandarin and he came down with crypt the day after I introduced him to the aquarium. Instead of removing all the fish: 60G reef tank with 1 mandarin, 1 pair ocellaris, tailspot, firefish, watchman and tiny blue goby, I fed the aquarium and fattened up everyone and it’s been doing splendidly for three years- no signs of crypt except an occasional spec and a few incidences of scratching. Now, the pair of clowns have been going at it for three weeks now, spawned 2 times (very healthy eggs and babies-just let them go) and are getting ready to spawn again. My worry is, if I take the eggs out and hatch them using tank water, will the crypt kill all the babies? I know there is crypt in the tank, in the water column – everywhere- and everyone just lives with it. I’m worried about the babies getting infected and dying from crypt/ich infestation. I don't really want to start a broodstock tank i.e., I take the pair out and dip them with formalin or any other nasty med, she could go sterile- Oh, maybe that would be a good thing....... Has anyone had experience with crypt and babies? Are they doomed? Any advice would be helpful. Laura In Orlando - Dang it's cold down here! Link to comment

lkc
Thanks BC, this is excellent information. I will dig in. I was looking on their breeding forum and there wasn't anything there at all. Laura Link to comment
