Lighting for a 5.5g

I am looking for a good light that will result in good coral growth in my tank, it is a 5.5g, if someone had some suggestions with some links and whatever, it would be nice to get an idea of what im going to be paying, and what is good. Thanks

I just put a par38 from nanotuners over my 5.5 and love it! or if you diy check on rapidled.com or just check the sponsor board on here.

That's an LED right? Or is it a MH? Because I find both when I search PAR38

its Evil66's par38 on nanotuners.com I got the 20k with 60 degree optics...they are screw in led bulbs.nice nice...check them out

They're out of stock... would the 12k do the job?

12k would work....Its all personal preferance. the 12k is a little whiter...the 20k is more blue. But for 88 bucks i would purchase the backordered 20k...i like the bluer look.

 

rapidled.com has the par 38 for 99 bucks... pretty much the same light exept the rapid one has annodized finnish...no rusting. check it out

Yeah, i guess your right about personal preference, I like the more white look. Ive read that these are mostly for spotting corals in show tanks, how well does this light cover your tank? does it evenly distribute the lighting?

I use a boost par 30 over my cube. I chose 60* optics to disperse the light a little more wider since the tank I'm lighting is pretty shallow. My tank is still young but the light seems to be getting the the job done.

I also have the 60 degree optics and i love the fixture!
