TwistedEnvy
Can I get dimmable drivers and for the meantime not dim them? I am positive I saw the answer to this somewhere but cannot find it now Link to comment
Genj
Depends on the driver you get. For example, the Meanwell requires a reference voltage to turn on the juice to the LEDs. If you don't have that reference voltage, then nothing. So figure out which driver you want and go from there. Link to comment
kayl
Can I get dimmable drivers and for the meantime not dim them? I am positive I saw the answer to this somewhere but cannot find it now IIRC If you get the meanwells, you could run them w/o dimming them by putting 0-10v (somewhere along that range) on the dimming input. blibo
You'll find this thread very useful http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...234736&st=0 I just finished the lighting on my bc29 last night using this setup. GL Link to comment
blasterman
While the link is helpful, it's six pages long, and many threads on the topic are much longer. Which results in some people not reading everything in the thread, and just plugging in a 9-10v Walwart ........and killing their 48D because the Walwart doesn't have any load on it and is cranking more than 10volts. So, a list of 10v supplies that work for this purpose and where to get them might be more helpfull Save me (and likely Evil) a lot of PM's as well. Link to comment

TwistedEnvy
http://www.sparkfun.com/products/298 Oops, I was talking about the 60-48D, eventually I will get an Apex for dimming, but for now I should use the power supply in the link above as I take it? Link to comment

Yes, that will give you a regulated reference voltage. You can then use a volt meter in series with the LEDs to manually adjust the SVR screw to dial in your current. But really, you might as well just purchase a pot and follow what is in my LED build thread (below) to make the thing dim. It will cost you about $3 more. add: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9288 add: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8828 Follow: I have 3 drivers, so just adjust what you see above for 1. *I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong, keep that in mind! *grin* Link to comment
