asstastic
think im gonna order a 12 cree led retro and 9 x 4.5 heatsink. currently have 12" 4 bulb t5s but not quiet bright enough for me. does anybody think this would be a good idea or be an issue. i plan on putting LEDS where the stock PC bulb go in hood and move the t5s to the part that steps up and covers all the hardware (currently where i moved my pc bulb if you look at my thread)maybe keep one t5 near the leds. i am completely new to LEDS and pretty much trying to cram as much info before i order them and I think for the ridiculous factor im going to have 1 36 watt PC actinic bulb, 4 12" t5s, and 12 Cree Leds. all in the hood of a biocube 29 Link to comment

Heat is bad for LEDs. With all that in the tank where can you fit the LED heatsink? Also you may not get an even distribution of light across the tank using 3 different methods on lighting. I would either add more T5s or go all LED at this point. Once nanotuners get the parts in to run the T5s at VHO levels you will see a big different in the output. my .02 Link to comment
Gromit1710
+1 to that. Sounds like a ton of heat in there. BC run hot already and adding LED's heat to the T5 could bring it up another degree or two. Don't know how Nanotuner's T5 VHO kit works, but I have their 5.6 LED system in my 29bc along with a 3.6 LED system in my 8 gal bc. No complaints on either. Link to comment
asstastic
temp is not a problem. the t5 ballast is mounted outside the hood. i will have to remove the pc bulb to fit LEDS. i would LOVE to go all LED. i didnt know when i ordered my t5 they were not putting out the power they were saying and a relative gave me $125 for christmas and dont know what to get so figured i would upgrade my lighting Link to comment
