jbannick18
Have an option to pick up a 36" aquamedic t5 fixture with 4 brand new bulbs for $200. Tried to find some information about them and to see if anyone was using them but couldn't find any concrete evidence of their quality. I know the fixture itself without bulbs on marinedepot is $349 but there is only one review. Would this light work over a 40 breeder to keep any coral I wanted? Or would I be better off spending my money elsewhere. Also it doesn't say if they are t5 or t5ho. Any input is appreciated. Thanks Link to comment
seabass
I've never used them, but they are $280 from AquaCave. Here is a search result. Link to comment
GiantBen
Am I missing something. The link has a description 36" 4x39W, but the image has 8 bulbs... Link to comment
seabass
Am I missing something. The link has a description 36" 4x39W, but the image has 8 bulbs... Yeah, they just use the same image for all of their T5 fixtures. Link to comment
jbannick18
Are all T5's HO's or is there any actual difference. Thought I read somewhere that HO was more of a marketing thing Link to comment
seabass
There are T5 bulbs that are normal output. I assume that the 36" 39W bulbs are HO and the 21W bulbs are NO, but I don't really know for sure. I don't believe that I've seen T5NO fixtures for sale as aquarium lighting. Link to comment
jbannick18
Yep they're HO, picked up the fixture today. Only gripe which I read about was the cramped lights but at least the reflectors are contoured. Came with a hinge type mount for the tank which looks pretty cool. Can't wait to get the 40 breeder up and running! Link to comment
