Up grading tank size

I recently bought an Eclipse 2 tank set up and running with the following:

live rocks (approx 20 lbs)

crush coral substrate

2 damsels

1 yellow tail

2 nemo's

1 jumbo mexican turbo snail

2 blue hermit crabs

1 brittle star fish

The rocks are covered with feather duster worms and i have also added two mushroom frags.

all is going will at the moment. I have added a Koralia nano power head for increased water flow.

Water changes are weekly between 25-30% with distilled water prepared properly.

Now the question I am looking to upgrade tanks possibly to a 28g Nano Cube HQI Aquarium

if I decide to go this route do i have to cycle the tank or can I just transfer the contents from one to another as if doing a water change?

Any new live rock that you wish to add must be cured (cycled) separately, like in a bucket with a powerhead. However, you are basically right, it can be transferred all at once.

I'd make an exception with the crushed coral substrate. First, you want an aragonite sand and not crushed coral, so this is perfect opportunity to replace it (note: don't disturb the old bed until you have moved everything else, or you will foul the remaining water).

Thanks for the advice that's what I thought about the substrate.....

How long has your tank been up?

I'd say 5 fish in that tank is too much. (I didn't know what an eclipse 2 was so I googled it and it said it was 20 gallons so I'm basing it off of that.)
