First off i'd just like to say hi and introduce myself. Im Nick.

I went into work today to get some water (i work at a petstore) and since its been snowing like crazy and im stuck inside i decided to get another tank. I decided to go with a 2.5g. I stole some sand out of the display tank and threw on an AC20 thats been layin in the corner of my room. I have probably a good 3lbs or so of rock in there. I have no clue as to what im gonna be stocking with, probably just some Zoa's. The lighting currently over it is a 20in Coralife PC thats lying across my planted crested gecko terrarium and my 1g vase. So i have the new tank kind of sandwiched in between. After the holidays when i have some money im probaby going to go with a par30.

Any ideas on stocking? I was thinking possibly doing a non-phosynthetic, theyre just so neat!

Anyways its nice to meet you all and im sure ill be posting quite often! :)

sorry no pics i dont have a camera im hoping for santa to bring me one

Welcome to NR. Hope you put pics up soon. Zoa's would be cool. Non-photosynthetic dedicated 2.5 pico has never been done before that I know of, due to difficulty and challenges with feeding and maintaining water quality. Most will say impossible for non-photsynthetics to thrive in pico's, I say possible but not in the current way we take care of pico's.

Fun! You've got some great stuff there. Good luck. I'd advise against NPS in a pico unless you're really good. How about a crab-topia?

Yea i have ruled out NPS, i'll save it for another day i suppose. A crabtopia would be interesting haha. Would keeping a monkey (saron) shrimp work? I dont know too much about them so i'll have to read up, but we just got a pair in at work and they're pretty sweet. Maybe a pom-pom crab those are always fun :)

I've never heard of a saron shrimp (also called marble shrimp). Just looked it up. Pretty! From what I gather, they are considered generally reef safe, but are known to bother zoanthids and palys. They look kinda like sexy shrimp.

Sadly no. I havent been able to do anything with this because i lost my job (for being sick and having to go home). So now the money i have left is going towards my car payment and the dog. I did have quite a few corals in my vase that i took out and traded for store credit so i could afford water for my 10 gal.

So basically i wont have money until i have a new job, and who knows when that will be.

I'm really bummed :tears:
