HOB skimmer for ~100 gallon system

I've got a 75 RR with 30 BR custom display sump that I'm setting up... Because of a lack of foresight, and cramped space inside my cabinet, I'm thinking I may have to go for an HOB skimmer. I've been looking at Foster and Smith for their most popular HOB skimmers, and they all seem to have GREAT reviews- which makes me suspicious that maybe they don't let negative ones display on the site. I've also never really heard many people recommend HOB skimmers in my time on this NR... so I'm weary of making an expensive mistake.

Has anyone had experience with HOB skimmers on larger reefs? I understand there will be noise because the pump isn't submerged, I just don't think I have any other option since the space inside my cabinet is too restricted...

I tried HOB skimmers. It's really annoying constantly adjusting to get skim. And even more annoying to see micro bubbles in the display. I'm against it.

If you do go that route I would suggest mounting it on the sump if you have space. Using a HOB for a larger system to me wouldn't be enough.

Search like crazy to find a skimmer with dimensions that would fit your sump.

Try Deltec 500 for HOB skimmer. If you will want a sump for your stand, you should be able to buy narrow, less than 11.5 inches wide sump online or CL; you can also get the sump custom built to fit to an in sump skimmer of your choice.
