Genj
Yes, that's correct. I picked up a hippo tang that came out of much smaller tank. That tang police can come and get me, even though I am on the fence about keeping this fish to be honest. He came out of a 20 gallon and at the moment appears very happy. Some additional shots: they are a bit pissed of at the moment, but they really shine when open. Perhaps a home for a Watchman?Watchman and Pistol took over immediately and built a nice place. Closed up the hole you see here in this shot. Link to comment

Genj
you are going to get flamed for having a tang... Oh trust me, I debated using the clone tool in PS to remove him so that I pass the moral equivalency test of the tang police elite squad. I've said it myself, there are other fish that are more interesting to me personally, but this tank isn't just mine, and the tang police don't pay my bills. Read It! Link to comment
Genj
The Tongue Coral: Which I have to admit, kinda freaked me out when all the mouths opened up before my eyes when I fed the tank. As soon as the food was in the mouths, they started to shut. Took about 20 min from start to finish! You can see a few of them still open, working on the food while I took the picture. Cool! I haven't checked the levels just yet. I'm going to let it settle and run a full bank of test over the weekend. The installation and setup was simple. It's a quality unit, with nice parts. The drawback is when changing the media, the damn thing leaks a bit, so be ready with a towel to catch the water. I'll grab some pictures of the stand over the weekend as well. Link to comment
Genj
I can't believe no flame yet!!! Tang police are off their game Here, let me save them some time and refer back to the fact that: A: They themselves have an unnatural reef tank stocked with life that does not grow wild in a glass/acrylic box under artificial light. B: They do not pay my bills. C: Do they eat meat? If so, then the have personally been responsible for killing an animal prematurely. The entire argument is a fallacy of the worst kind, because it's used to make them feel morally superior to someone else and then used to justify their own actions. It's the same argument used by people that drive around in their Prius and feel that somehow they are better than everyone else, while they live in a heated house, watch a TV, and eat food from the grocery store. ajmckay
Nice tank. Did you use anything to keep the rocks held together? They look really nice but slightly unstable! Also, I like the shots with the underwater mode on your Panasonic DMC-ZS3. They look really good and you got the depth of field just right. Good luck. Link to comment
Genj
I am a bit worried about the stability of a few of them; however, I've been using the coraline colored epoxy as I go. On the other hand, a lot of the rocks just fit together and locked in place pretty tight. Gotta start researching my next addition to the tank.... Link to comment

bananahands
Thanks for the pics, very clean. What kind of pump are you running to the reactor? Is it enough to cause tumbling if you wanted to run phosban? Link to comment
Genj
Thanks for the compliment. The pump is a MJ 900 with the inline ball valve at about 50-60% open. Tumbling is occurring, albeit gently. Link to comment
sefrayser
Did you get any Microbubbles from the MJ in second chamber? I have the same set-up, I am using the MJ 600 and I have microbubbles around the MJ pump. I am also running it full open. Should I close it slightly? Link to comment
Genj
I do not get any micros. I would close your valve just enough to get yourself a gentle rolling of the media..any more and you might get a bit of a mess.. Link to comment
Bamboo
Very nice start, really like the feather duster! Link to comment
matt frizz
I have two questions for you if you don't mind. One out of curiousity and the other out of necessity. Do you have any problems having two different types of clown fish in such a small tank? I thought that they were kinda aggressive towards different kinds. If yours get along then that's cool because I like the combo of the black percula and the regular one. Other question is if your tang is harrassing the clownfish at all. I have a 50 gallon breeder and I'm currently keeping a blue hippo tang and its being a little aggressive towards my clownfish but I can't tell if it's because he's aggressive or if its the clowns being aggressive towards him. The clowns were WELL established before the tang came in. I was wondering this because I was trying to see if there's a correlation between the small tank sizes and the aggressiveness of the blue tang who is normally peaceful. Either that or I just unluckily picked out an aggressive one. At the LFS he was 1 of 3 in the same tank and he was obviously harrassing the smaller ones. I picked him because I figured he would have a better chance and so far he's eating everything I feed him. Link to comment
Genj
The clown fish were purchased together and introduced into the AP24 at the same time. They quickly established their roles with the Fancy being the male and the Percula the female. The Hippo has not bothered the Clowns, nor have the Clowns bothered the Hippo. They actually stick together pretty well, except at night. The Clowns have their spot that they stay in, and the Hippo has a little bit of rock that is preferred for resting/sleeping. BTW, Thanks Bamboo! Link to comment
