wazupjames
Finally getting rid of a few nano's and switching to a larger tank. This is the first one which will be the smaller of the two. I spent the weekend welding my stand together. Everything went well except my welding helmet broke at one point..... Here are some photos of the tank on the stand. The stand is not totally completed yet, I have Brushed Aluminum sheets on the way. This will enclose the stand. There is also a diagram of the light setup I am going with. The Metal Halides will be Hung from a light stand I am in the process of welding, it will brace under the stand up and over the tank. Would love some feedback and opinions on the light diagram - As I have never had to light this size tank. Plumbing the tank tonight should be fun . Another new experience. Link to comment
animalmaster6
Can't wait to see this, looks like a good lighting plan. Any plans for stocking? Link to comment
wazupjames
Ok update time. I plumbed my tank and everything, had a few issues but everything is good now. Made a DIY Durso Standpipe, put in an extra vent just above the drain. Everything works great now. I also put in a Coralife 220 Skimmer with a sicce psk 2500 pump on it. Works great already. So far I have my three sets of 453nm LEDS and the 48" Hagen Glo 2x54w T5HO - this is a lot brighter than I expected so that’s awesome. Sump and refugium is completely done. I am working on making my structure. My wife and I spent a good 3 hours on it tonight. It is not complete as I am getting some more rock to finish it off but here is how it looks so far. What do you think? Link to comment
disaster999
looking good, although i question the performance of the coralife skimmer, but with the psk2500 it should make it better, but with a better skimmer body, it would be even better Link to comment
JBM
should have painted the back before filling Link to comment

wazupjames
Looking good. Do you plan to cover that stand in any way? Did you get rid of your 28g NC? The Stand will be enclosed with Brushed Aluminum. I still have my Nano it is doing very well. Link to comment
wazupjames
Finally after 18 days I have a reading on my water tests. I have been reading all 0's until tonight. 5ppm Nitrate. The tank is finally cycling. Link to comment
fewskillz
Your first reading should've been Ammonia. Nitrate comes last in the cycle. That means you're almost done. Link to comment
wazupjames
Yea I kept testing for ammonia and then didnt test yesterday. So, it must have hit yesterday. I have copepods everywhere and a little bit of diatoms on the sand. Exciting stuff . Link to comment
wazupjames
Just realized how much my tank structure has changed in the last 2 weeks. Top photo is before. The tank is a mess because one of my metal halides arrived broken, so I have not setup my light stand or any coral placement. Everything is just scattered about under the one metal halide . wazupjames
Wow, I have not updated this tank in a while on here. I still can't figure out how to take good photos of my tank but here are some new photos. I always lose the color in my coral for whatever reason. I am going to post old pictures first so you guys can see the progress of the tank of the last 5 months. It's pretty funny. Sorry for the different image sizes etc. The beginning rock structure And some photos today. This tank is a lot of frags right now but I have only had full lights on it for about 3-4 months.
