seabeyond
Anyone have suggestions on how I might reduce the humming noise coming from my MaxiJet 900 in my BioCube 14 tank? I have it as the replacement for the stock sump pump in chamber 3 (that's what I call the left-most chamber looking at it straight at the tank from the front). It's working fine, just that I don't think it's well-seated or anchored so it tends to hum or making a rattling noise louder than it should. I know when I press against it the humming goes away but that's not a solution. What do you guys/gals use to keep it quiet? Also, if the MJ900 isn't a good pump, what other ones do you have/use that's equal in output and performance that you would recommend? Thanks in advance for the response! Link to comment
StevieT
Is it touching one of the walls of the chamber? Link to comment
seabeyond
Is it touching one of the walls of the chamber? Yes, it's a really tight fit. Also the stock tube is not that flexible so it's hard to move it around in that tight space. I was thinking maybe I should visit the local HW store and find some sort of plastic shim to fill in the gap between the pump and the wall so it might reduce that rattling/humming noise. Anyone have something like that you've used for this? Link to comment
