tmhasara
I would appreciate a recommendation for a fish for my 7 gallon reef tank. I would like something very colorful that doesn't hide. I'm not a big fan of clowns. Thank you! Link to comment
animalmaster6
Gobies! Eviota and Trimma gobies are awesome. Eviota pellucida and Trimma tevegae are great examples. Most of these species can be kept in groups and are very epaceful. Plus they are usually completely reef-safe! The Neon Goby(Gobiosoma oceanops), Sharknose Goby(Gobiosoma evelynae), and Yellow-Line Goby(Gobiosoma randalli) are all awesome species. The Greenbanded Goby and the Red Head Goby are really cool gobies to choose. They can be kept in pairs or groups. If you are having SPS corals Bryaninops natans is an excellent choice. Shrimp gobies are great. The Yasha Shrimp Goby (Stonogobiops yasha) and the Hi Fin Red Banded Shrimp Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes) are awesome choices of shrimp goby. I have The Hi Fin Red Banded Goby and love him Both these species pair with the Candy Stripe Pistol Shrimp. Gobies aren't the only choices though. Red Spot Cardinals and Orange Striped Cardinals are good choices. The Red Spots need to be acclimated well or they will not survive. They are tough cardinals to keep alive. Orange Striped Cardinalfish are much better choices. Tailspot Blennies, Two Spot Bimaculatus Blennies, and Barnacle Blennies are some of my favorite blennies. They are also really small and would do great for a 7g. If you have any other ideas of questions please ask Link to comment
tiomm
I'm interested in the same thing, but I'm also looking for fish with big/different personalities/behaviors. Something a bit more than your average just-swimming-and-pooping-fish. Any recommendations? Link to comment

Any recommendations? The gobies I mentioned fit your description. They have a huge personality and are very interesting. Eels are also fun. Snowflake and Golden Dwarf Eels are some of my favorites. seafd
Anglers are pretty cool to watch especially during feeding time... But I don't know if a 7 gallon would work for them. Link to comment

I think they are awesome as well, I just can't feed them as often as they require it. Link to comment
Brooklyngal
my first thought was firefish, but it depends on what you mean by a personality- mine have always been very animated, but not exactly the sort of animated that gives you the impression they're going 'ooh, look, its my no-fin coming to feed me!' I've had a lot of fish I liked for their personalities; my royal gramma, by YWG, longnose hawk, both my genicanthus angels, rusty angel, yellow wrasse. but by leaps and bounds, my two blennies are at the top of the list; a lawnmower and a bicolor, both model citizens. I miss them, wish I had room for another blenny in one of my tanks, but my 20 is full to the brim, and im pretty sure my longnose hawk (however placid with her tankmates) wouldnt take too well to someone perching on her rocks. my vote- Tailspot or Bicolor blenny. buddythelion
+1 on the tailspot. Those are great little guys! Give him a little hole to call his home and you'll always see his head popping out! He'll also leave you kiss marks on your algae. Link to comment
