Looking to start snapping some quality pics of my tanks and recreationally on vacations etc. DO you think I should go all-in and buy from best buy a bundle for $999 with the cannon t2 rebel, a 55MM - 250mm lense, an 8 gb card and bag OR try for walmart and the cannon eos rebel xs with the stock lense and a 2gb card and bag for $479

yeah this isn't a huge purcahse but it is significant enough that i am probably just going to hold off on a hasty purchase since I haven't had adequate time to research.

Yeah, take your time. Your not really saving to much on that Wal-Mart deal as they have the same bundle avaliable everyday for $499.

 

If I can save $50 tomorrow I am going to grab one if avaliable, but Im not going to loose sleep over it if I have to pay an extra $50 or find something better :D

I would suggest picking up the rebel xs to get a hold of the dslr world and then later you'll want to get in the prosumer range the 30-60d range

I'd recommend going for the T2i. The image sensor is far superior in low light, better autofocus, and the camera ergonomics are really improved. You might consider just buying the kit without the telephoto lens to get started, I think some sites have it for $799 or $749 today. It's a camera worth buying high end lenses for, if you stick with it.
