Grenadine
This is my first post (I think) and I am looking for some information on good powerheads. I know some people swear by the koralias, but others prefer a bit larger maxijets or penguins, etc. I at one point was intent on the koralia, but I almost find they stick out too much in the tank too much like a pod. I've seen some nanos who have managed to practically hide something like a maxijet behind the LR. thanks in advance for your replies (i might forget about this post for a few days) Link to comment
Coastie
well if you decide to go with a koralia nano (the smaller ones) bigalsonline, com is having a ridiculous sale on them right now. Link to comment
swayd
Make friends with people at your LFS, thats how I got my stuff for dirt cheap!!!!!!!!! But I think a Koralia Nano is nice, maybe a K1 depending on how much LR and the types of corals you will be keeping! Link to comment
1fishmonger
Best = MP10. Most practical - Koralias. Nano or 1 depending on what you're keeping. I would prefer 2 smaller powerheads over 1 larger one. It's good to have flow coming from different directions Link to comment

Grenadine
Thanks for the quick replies, keep them coming! I think I will enjoy this site more than just staring off into all the great pictures. I wanted to do some zoas, palys, mushrooms, and maybe a hammer or a frogspawn as I'd like to get a pair of clown fish without having an anemone take over my tank. I know clowns are pretty common, but they are really cute. -I do want some shrimp too. I was considering modding an AQ70 into a small fuge and was hoping I'd get the added flow from the down spout, and with a proper powerhead I'd get adequate flow. Also, I am open to suggestions. But I really, really like the look of zoas. Link to comment
1fishmonger
So you really don't need too much flow. You could probably get by with one Koralia Evo 425 but I would recommend 2 x Koralia Nanos at 245 GPH. One in upper left corner, one in bottom right corner..Both facing front center of tank and you're good to go 32.99 http://www.amazon.com/Hydor-Koralia-Nano-A...8300&sr=8-2 29.99 http://www.amazon.com/Hydor-Koralia-Nano-A...8300&sr=8-5 Those price will be tough to beat when you take shipping and tax into account (pending location) Lighting is more important than flow, really... Look into get a small T5 fixture or PC fixture. No need for halides. If you and your wallet are up for it - Look into LEDs. Less heat transfer to tank, no bulb replacement...and yes, I think they're awesome. Well suited for what you want to keep. Link to comment
straydog
The koraila wavemaker with 2 nano koralia would work nice . You could adjust the flow and the koraila that go with the wavemaker are a little smaller. Link to comment

Grenadine
I guess the consensus is to go for the Koralias. I'm Canadian (Toronto) so Big Als Online just had their Canadian sale on those puppies. I have a month so they might have a boxing day sale (day after christmas). They usually do. Link to comment
