Hi,

went to the LFS bought some 2 part B-Ionic and the guy gave me the amount to dose but didnt write it down

saw him use a calculator and all..lol

if anyone can help me figure out the amount to dose.. it says 1ml of b-ionic per 4 gallons

which makes the dosage 3.5ml..

but really want to know if you guys add more..or just use the recommended amount??

and is this a daily routine??

First, you need to test your water to see what you're calcium and alkalinity levels are and how much they're being depleted. It's pointless to dose if water changes alone are replenishing the levels, so it's a good idea to test over a week or two to get an idea of the consumption rate. Also, if you don't have any stony corals, dosing B-ionic will not help much with coral growth.

Once you have the test results, read the article below to learn about any imbalances. It may be that you should add calcium/alkalinity at different proportions.

After finding what zone you're in, use this online calculator to find how much to dose. Remember not to add too much alkalinity at once since it significantly alters pH.

dosing 2 part is always using test runs and adjusting your alk and calcium accordingly. start with the minimum dosage and if it is not enough, slowly up your dosage. for my 350 gallon system i started at 100 ml's a day and calcium is at 180 ml's a day now and still climbing. whatever you do with 2 part, do it slow.

My first question would be, why are dosing? What are your parameters?

Are you keeping a lot of CA demanding corals?

Regular water changes should be all you need unless you are keeping clams or a lot of SPS.

for realz Big time fraud

I feel your pain bro.. Someone got ahold of my credit card number and started charging stuff in Florida. Over $1k in charges within an hour and my credit card company froze it. They even created a fake card and they were caught on surveillance. Fortunately, they cleared all of the fraudulent charges. Identity theft is even worse.. As long as you could prove that you weren't in the area your good to go.

Regarding the 2-parts Bi-Ionic I agree with everyone else. I dose 5ml in my 24 gallon and 25ml in my 95 gallon daily, but that's because there's a lot of calcium consuming corals. I even have to add additional Ca and Mg on top of that, along with frequent water changes. However, each system is different and if it's lightly loaded with corals I would just do water changes like the others mentioned. Best way to figure it out is to test and increase or decrease dosing accordingly. I always have an extra 20-30 gallons of mixed water, just in case I do a boo boo.. What ever you do, try not to measure your dose over your tank because I was half asleep one time and dumped about 10x more than my normal dose into my 24 gallon one day. Glad I had that extra water:) Good luck..

It was probably this guy that you are helping. The thing for you is you get your money back, the people that he shopped with are the ones that get screwed. The vendor always loses in the end. Card holder gets their money back, thief gets their product and a business owner gets a writeoff.

Dude, that's not cool.. Sorry Stevie I was in the middle of studying for a exam and didn't really read the posts. That sucks man because I just got jacked for $10k from a freaking low character bastard that left me hanging with a business venture. Claiming that I hired him as a consultant, when clearly it was a joint venture. It definitely put a hole in my kids christmas budget and my tank upgrade. Yep, got my credit card stolen and ripped off for $10k this year. What a way to end the freaking year. Anyways, this guy isn't getting anymore of my advice, unless he ponies up and pays his debt.
