LPS-Crazy
Well I built this holding tank weeks ago, but had it upstairs to add a 16watt UV sterilizer as I was getting a slim coat in the holding tank after a few days. Figured I would take a pic and share. Pretty simple yet functional I think. Link to comment
cruiZe
Thats really great. What bulkheads did you use? I have a Brute that I keep SW mixed in and over a few months my big siphon hose I leave in there got slimy and a little stinky. I dumped it out and made some fresh, but I wonder why? Its always in the dark, lid on. Heater and powerhead running. I like the UV idea. Link to comment
LPS-Crazy
I have a ton of 1" bulkheads laying around so that is what I useed on this. PVC reducing inserts get me down to the 1/2 barbed fittings on the inside of the tank. And 1" to 3/4 worked for the spout assembly. I think the slim is just caused by bacteria pulled from the air. I was told to put a circulation pump in there to keep the water moving, but same results. Finally I said F it and went this route, this big ol UV should kill anything in the water. Typically when you mix that water with your salt it kills off any of that bacteria, but my family does fill up their water bottles from this tank to so i just ddint want funky water I had the UV just sitting around collecting dust so I figured I put it to some good use.Same with the QuietOne 1200 I got running it. Also to, dont heat the water, the colder the better I guess (heat helps bacteria grow) Just heat the water when it is mixing with your salt. Link to comment
