Mojorizn
I love the sound of UPS.... BSR 1.1 ml Dosing pump x 2 / RKL PC4 I'll be setting this up to automate ALK / CAL --------------------------------------- I was planning on giving this a try for ALK: ~20ml (over 24 hours) split into 6 doses of ~3.3ml every 4 hours My PH is stable over 24 hours so "night dosing" is not a requirement. Timer 01 Day of Week - Don't care Start - Don't Care On Duration - 00:3:00 Off duration - 03:57:00 Repeat Count - 00 (Don't Care) Oscillate - On Random - No The BSR Pump is on Channel 1. I set up the Channel as follows Mode - Auto Function - Multi-Timer Timer1 - 01 Timer2 - 00 Standby Mode - Ignore Standby Delay - 00:00:00 ---------------------------------------- If you have an RKL and a dosing program ... I WANNA SEE IT...!!! Link to that thread is here Link to comment
Mojorizn
I changed the programming to this: TIMER 2-ALK DoW : SMTWTFS (everyday) Start Time: 05:40:00 am Time ON: 00:04:00 Timer OFF: 05:56:00 Repeats: 5 Oscillates: NO 24mL of solution. Link to comment

Mojorizn
Just an update -- Down to two screens on the HM acclimation thing. Corals are starting to color up again. Have been feeding my fish more, feeding the tank twice a week and doing 3-4 gallon WC's twice a week with a good tank feeding the night before. Alk dosing is working as my KH stays 9-10 Cal = 440 yet I don't have to dose often at all...that is weird to me. Mag = 1450 - 1500 So, all is looking good. It is strange that my tank goes thru Alk but not Cal.....hmmmm Link to comment

Mojorizn
Messing around with the timers again. Found that they were coming on far too often. Set as follows" Timers Timer 01 Day of Week ------ Start 08:35:00 PM On Duration 00:04:00 Off Duration 03:56:00 Repeat Count 00 Oscillate on -------------- PC4 Channel 4 Mode Auto Function Multi Timer Timer 1 = 01 The plan is to have it run for 4 minutes every 4 hours = 6 equal doses in 24 hours. Testing to see what happens. If I set the Start Time to 00:00:00 is that even possible or necessary? I have tried a few program settings and don't get consistent results. Could be a brown out, but I wanna know if this setup will/should work. Thanks for any suggestions. Link to comment
glennr1978
Can you not just set your controller to turn the pumps on and off at certain times, for certain amounts of time? Link to comment

I'm thinking a smaller wrasse next. Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri) McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri) We shall see .... Link to comment
Wilioli
Those fish look really cool! How's the 12k reeflux bulb goin for yea? I noticed that you are using 2 actinic bulbs for the t5 -- for the supplemental lighting. say you didnt have the metal halides.. would u still have 2 actinic bulbs? I'm a bit confused with some people's setups (who only have t5's) -- they will use bulbs that are 6500k, or basically just less than 10000k, and one bulb thats 10000k or more.. wouldn't u want all bulbs to be 10000+k? Mojorizn
Thanks and so far so good. T5 lighting.....just my opinion. Long story very short in theory...10K and below = faster growth more yellow looking to the eye 12K and above = slower growth but more pleasing to the eye. So, striking a balance between the two brings in all the bulb choices. I've had a Fiji Purple / Gies 6500 / some 12K something, etc, etc in my last tank and never found the right combo for me. There is a guy over on Reef Central...The Grim Reefer = T5 Geek / Guru Link to comment
Wilioli
ahhhh, thats where my confusion arises then -- I didnt realize less than 10000k promoted growth... realized it had a yellow like color --- just thought the perfect range was 10000.. lol thanks for the clarification.. ill check out grim reefer as well Link to comment
Mojorizn
Well, that's just my .02.... I'm definitely not the T5 expert. There are a few pics and combos listed in my 40 thread if ya wanna check that out. Based on my personal experience, I'll stick with the MH+T5 combo until LED's become a proven - time tested alternative...lol Link to comment
Wilioli
ahhh don't sell ur self short.. im goin around tellin ppl u are in expert.. lol and i was actually on ur 40 thread lookin at those combinations, thats what got me to look more into combo's, and then the questions... lol Link to comment

Mojorizn
So, today I removed the last screen from my "screen acclimation" to MH. Still have the eggcrate up there, but it's kinda nice to have a place to set stuff if needed. Everything is doing well and beginning to color up a little. I think this is a combination of several things but it's the end result that counts. Now to set up the Cal dosing. My tank is starting to burn through some Calc and hand dosing isn't gonna cut it...hopefully another good sign. Link to comment
glennr1978
Now to set up the Cal dosing. My tank is starting to burn through some Calc and hand dosing isn't gonna cut it...hopefully another good sign. that is a good sign. makes sense too. since the initial shock from the tank transfer is now gone your corals will probably start growing like weeds again. p.s. go feed your fish so your corals can eat! p.s.s. starting to get the equipment for my new tank in the mail. i probably should start working on a stand soon.. Mojorizn
p.s. go feed your fish so your corals can eat! Yes Sir, that's part of the "several things"... 1) Bigger Tank 2) Better lighting 3) More Fish 4) More feeding the fish ... 2-3 times a day in small amounts, maybe 4-5 on occasion 5) Low Nutrients 6) Small WC's twice a week ... 3-4 gallons 7) Feed the tank twice a week with Rod's for now. Looking at these...wadda ya think? Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri) Leaning towards a group of these. McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri) Link to comment
