MrGone
This has been a side project of mine for a few months now and we are now on the home stretch. I believe there is around 400lbs of dry rock from reef cleaners in the tank. We ran out of ideas for scaping after going through tons of ideas that never quite translated into the tank as we'd hoped. The rocks on top are some rocks from my reef tank I am using to seed this tank. It makes me miss nanos, they are so much easier to scape. The largest rock we received from John wouldn't actually fit into this tank with the hood on, I ended up putting it into my 150g reef instead. all new sump and filtration setup. RO top off container to the left, then a two piece sump. I decided to go with the Super Reef Octopus XP5000 INT protein skimmer and the water blaster HY10000 for the return pump paired with an oceans motions on top of the tank to create more random flow. We put two small blue hippo tangs in two days ago but they went straight into the rocks and weren't coming out. I decided to bring in my mated occelaris clowns in with the hopes it would make the tangs more comfortable and it worked! They came out and are eating. If you walk by the tank too quickly the tangs dart back into the rock but I think a little more time and a few more fish and they will be unphased. Now we are waiting for the LED lighting system to come in and are planning on using two Vortech MP60Ws for more flow (but buying one at a time in case one is sufficient, plus that is a lot of money). I will start bringing some frags of my colonies over in about a month. There is enough room in the sump for a calcium reactor and I will build a bracket to mount the CO2 bottle when the time comes. It will fit perfectly in the 210g I'm working on now It was just the hood design on the 255g has a piano hinge on it and the front half of the hood is glued down so we had some clearance issues. Thank you for the offer though Link to comment
