Cheatos falling apart

how could my cheatos fall apart. It is getting picked up by my return pump and the skimmer pump.

It's either getting too much light, or not the right kind or not enough flow, or there aren't enough nutrients in the water to support Cheato. It took me 3 balls and 8 months of experimenting to find the best spot in my tank for it. I found that it likes a good flow of water, medium or indirect light to grow best.

You could try closing the bag with a chio clip so they don't go stale.

 

But seriously it could either be the lighting (too much or too little), lack of nutrients, or too much flow.

i have stevie T's light in a media basket, should I put it in the display tank?

i use the same light and my chaeto raps around the light and loves it!

i have gha starting to grow with red slime so the nutrient shouldn't be the problem.

If you have alot of GHA and slime then it could be starving your chaeto of nutrients.
