the_gats
Wow I was just looking through your thread and your 20L is coming along nicely Thanks. It has definitely been fun. It'll be fun to see another persons take on the 20L. I wish I could see the FTS, but I'll have to wait to get home because work is against photobucket type sites and blocks the photos. I cycled with lights on, but I've read that it will start out fine without lights. Link to comment
Gerber77
I would cycle with lights on if you dont once you turn the lights on the algae will start accumulating so why not knock out the major algae bloom while cycling. Link to comment
yoshii
What about HHs that need the light? Link to comment

Haha yeah I couldn't wait lol your 20 looks great!!!! Thanks, its pretty cool for a free dresser/stand all I had to do was paint it. Thanks. It has definitely been fun. I cycled with lights on, but I've read that it will start out fine without lights. Ahhh those work computers block all the good stuff lol The FTS is just an empty tank so far lol I would cycle with lights on if you dont once you turn the lights on the algae will start accumulating so why not knock out the major algae bloom while cycling. I am tempted to start cycling without lights for about 2-3 weeks and then with the light for another 2-3 weeks just to be safe. So I should have a total of 4-6 weeks of cycling? What about HHs that need the light? I was just going to use one piece of LR from my 9Gal and a couple pieces of dry rock I have lying around, I dont think there are going to be too many HH except some small pseudocorynactis that doesnt require much light at all! latteslave
All right! another 20 long (and close to home to boot!) Looks like your off to a good start - water in the tank and all Did you go back and re-do the paint on the tank? Looking forward to seeing this develop! Link to comment
swayd
Thanks, I dont have water in the tank yet... and I didnt know how I was supposed to re-do that because I dont know how to take the spray paint off? It is only a small dollar bill sisze section though so its not too bad! Link to comment
latteslave
You can use goo gone to get it off and a razor blade and towel. It will take a bit, but if the back is bad, it is worth it. When you re-do it, use acohol and a razor to scrape everything and then a really good rub with alcohol. This should take off anything that will cause the bubbles. Remember to go slow. Do several coats - you don't have to get a thick coat the first time. Just do you coat, let it dry and repeat until you are happy. Only takes 10 minutes or so between coats. Link to comment
swayd
so, water is in now I have decided to cycle without a light for now... But when I came home this morning about 1.75" of water had already evaporated over night!!! Is that a lot of water? I am about to start testing right now and will be back with a few params! latteslave
That sounds like a lot of evap... Do you have a fan blowing in the room or directly at the tank? I generally go through about 2 gallons a week. Link to comment

As of right now my params are: PH 8.6 NITRITE <0.3mg NITRATE 0 AMMONIA Omg Link to comment
