Kingken
Hey everyone! I am setting up my first ever reef, and trying to take it nice and slow, as I'm on a strict budget, (minimum wage part time -.-) and want a nice smooth running system. I am trying to find a nice fixture for 200$ or less(preferably the ladder =P) to keep LPS, and softies. I will be keeping only beginner corals until I get far more comfortable with reefing, so I don't think I will need to insane of a light fixture. I am open to any suggestions, so please, help me out =) -Ken Link to comment

Also a 2 or 4 bulb nova extreme t5 light (SLR model) would work too. the 6-8 bulb models (pro and regular) would be OVERKILL. a 4 bulb tek would be way overkill as well. Link to comment
the_gats
I'm running the 30" Coralife T5HO that I got for just under a hundred. Link to comment

HOWEVER, once you get comfortable with many of the beginner cheap corals... they will be HARD to get rid of. just food for thought. B. if you someday want to upgrade your lighting, it may be more worth while now, to spend a bit extra to get a better fixture, so when the time comes, you wont actually have to go out and buy another fixture. (which in the long run, will just cost more) Link to comment
Kingken
Well, I would love to just get a really great fixture now, I really don't have the money to = /. Also, I know this may sound a little odd, but I would prefer something that is really blue colored for bulbs. I want to just lay in my bed and watch it with the lights off, and I feel like a blue glow is very very tranquil =) Link to comment

tundrashaul
nove extreme.............If you want the "blue glow" then IM with Gats on the Coralife, the spend the extra dough on a good moonlight led setup for that glow at night. The leds give a great shimmer effect you cant really get with t5s. When my monlights are on with the ripples goin I can stare at the tank in a trance just like a camp fire. Link to comment
