musthaveitall
I found this while on RC and wow, can you really do this? I know Freshwater Angelfish are fairly hardy but they normally cannot tolerate the higher pH in a marine aquarium, I know this must be brackish but this is crazy, tell me what you think... el fabuloso
Wait, what?? That's crazy... I highly doubt they're in the same tank. There must be a divider. Link to comment
Dizzle21
did you see the goldfish and clownfish one?? crazy Link to comment
musthaveitall
That is just crazy! I want one! I wonder how long lived it would be? I have had oscars tolerate SG of 1.012 I had them with some monos and SA hifin sharks (cats), I would think a tang or something would handle that if acclimated slowly. Link to comment
Trick
An oscar would be awsome in a saltwater tank. It would be the closest thing to a grouper that we might keep. Link to comment
el fabuloso
did you see the goldfish and clownfish one?? crazy I saw that too but if you look closely, the FW fish and the clowns never really cross paths. The clowns are all in the foreground and the goldfish and plattties in the background. Same with the first video. The angelfish are all in the front of the tank and the tangs are all in the back. Edit: Nevermind, I was wrong. I found a better version - There are seahorses in there too! WTF? Link to comment
Dizzle21
welll fw fish are swimming more on top and sw fish on the bottom. sw is heavier than fw so im thinking they some how made separate..hmmm Link to comment
musthaveitall
I know that sometimes in my retail saltwater displays the salinity can drop to a SG of 1.012 if I don't add salt regularly, as I take water out when bagging fish the ATO just adds RO water and it lowers the salinity, so I have to add about 3 cups of salt a week to my 600 gal system. So I know the saltwater fish can handle it. Also they have Guppies, platies and goldfish that can all handle brackish water, so I think it would work if you gradually lowered the salinity of the Marine Fish and Gradually Raised the salinity of the Fresh. The thing I cant get over is the angelfish, they normally need a lower pH but I guess wild Altums would be a little hardier? I think I have some tanks to set up... Link to comment
el fabuloso
I still think there's a divider between the yellow tangs and the angelfish. Link to comment
Tinytank
^+1 For sure the tangs and angels are separated. Now the other video you posted????????? Link to comment
reeftankguy
Wait, what?? That's crazy... I highly doubt they're in the same tank. There must be a divider. I watched it several times and you can see one of the angels bumb his nose on a piece of glass (Divider!) Link to comment
el fabuloso
So we all agree that there's a divider in that first tank. But what about that second one with the goldfish, platties, gouramis, seahorses and a bazillion baby clowns all in one tank??? Link to comment
ihatesears18
I watched it several times and you can see one of the angels bumb his nose on a piece of glass (Divider!) So it swam through the divider, and then bumped it's nose on it? Link to comment
Dizzle21
The japanese have finally invented magic water.... Link to comment
musthaveitall
I don't think there is a divider, the angels if you watch, bump noses. And also if you watch one of the tangs swim to the upper left side of the tank. I think it is possible. Link to comment
Austin
Even if you somehow magically acclimated those Angels to live in SW - the Vallisneria would never adapt. Besides - why would anyone want to do this? Yeah, with practice I could lay on my back and arc a stream of piss into my mouth - but what purpose would it serve? Now - the goldfish/clownie/gourami/seahorse situation -- that's just plain nuts. I can't figure that out. Link to comment
el fabuloso
the Vallisneria would never adapt. They're fake. Link to comment
Deleted User 6
welll fw fish are swimming more on top and sw fish on the bottom. sw is heavier than fw so im thinking they some how made separate..hmmm i think you're onto something. Link to comment
el fabuloso
So the saltwater and freshwatter are magically separated? Who are these GEX people? I need answers!! Link to comment
Deleted User 6
sw is less buoyant iirc. and those clowns are as far down as they can get, while the FW fish are at the top. that's gotta be it. Link to comment
Austin
i think you're onto something. I thought that too - but the clowns seem to span the entire height of the tank...at least a couple of them do. But that is certainly a good point. Link to comment
el fabuloso
And even then, how exactly does it work? Link to comment
ry05coupe
welll fw fish are swimming more on top and sw fish on the bottom. sw is heavier than fw so im thinking they some how made separate..hmmm So SW and FW wont mix? Link to comment
Deleted User 6
of course they mix, but there could be some way that they separated them. but i don't know how. maybe some chemical compound in the FW part the prevented osmosis. Link to comment
ry05coupe
I think you guys are overcomplicating this. Link to comment
