iFISTmoose
Would 2 of these ( http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem.asp...p;child=XX06850 ) be enough for a 12 gallon? im guessing it would. and how would i find something to mount them in? Link to comment
ganjero
Those have 40 degree optics, which give you more penetration but less spread. Look at the PAR38 from nanotunners, they offer 40,60,80 degree optics. One with 60 should be enough for a 12g. Link to comment
iFISTmoose
where would i find somthing to screw it in to? Link to comment
ganjero
HomeDepot, Lowes, Walmart, etc. They screw into regular sockets. You can use an arm lamp, or find an outdoors socket to install in your canopy. You could build your or lamp, use conduit pipe for the arm install a socket at the end and paint it black like seen here: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...p;#entry2871641 Link to comment

redfishsc
You can get the original version of that lamp in MORE color options from http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php?products_id=623. They are out of stock at the moment, apparently. I'd personally be willing to wait. I've done business with both Nanotuners AND Marine Depot, and both are very good... I'd just prefer dealing with the guys at Nanotuners b/c they are always quicker to help me with technical issues etc... I've never dealt with Ecoxotic and probably never will b/c I can build my own arrays. From my own personal observation it appears that Ecoxotic completely, totally, and pathetically ripped off the Nanotuners bulb. I can't say that for sure because I do not know that for sure, but if you look closely, they look identical except for maybe a trim ring or something. Link to comment
Freakin
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80030357 That actually isn't idea because of the shield around the recessed bulb. The PAR38 needs to be more open to the air to allow it to stay cool. You basically want a fixture like that without the shield Link to comment
Mike Maddox
As far as I know (although I could be wrong) neither NanoCustoms nor Ecoxotic actually manufacture the bulb, they re-sell it. Link to comment

All they changed was the color. As far as I know (although I could be wrong) neither NanoCustoms nor Ecoxotic actually manufacture the bulb, they re-sell it. Almost. While it's true that we don't physically make the lamp, we did specify everything about that lamp, which makes it a little more than just re-selling. Problem is, the company that is making them for us didn't feel that it was a problem to sell to a competing company. That was partly our fault though. Link to comment
Mike Maddox
That's no fun I'll buy from you, then! Planning on adding additional colors to your PAR 38 lineup? Link to comment
evilc66
Maybe. I've been playing with a few different options, but nothing that really set itself apart from what we already have. Link to comment
