shan
Im trying to figure out a good fish to be my final in my 34g Solana. First I have lots of SPS, zoas, a couple of Acans, and 6 clams from 3-5 inches each. Fish I have 2 false perc clowns about 2inches each 1- 2 inch starki damsel 1- red velvet fairy wrasse about 3inches I had a filamented flasher wrasse that I added at the same time I added the red velvet, and the starki damsel, chased it to its demise. The starki doesnt bother any of the other fish, other than every once in awhile he will chase the red velvet for a second or two, but nothing major. I would like a smaller very colorful fish that would not bother my SPS or clams, and that might not be as bothered by the starki. Any ideas??? Link to comment
cdr5y7
might just be me but i think any more might be overstocking it. but thats just me. Link to comment
Degener8
might think about gobies. There is several colorful ones. They are excellent at hiding when they need to and they inhabit a different water level in the tank than the damsel. Link to comment
ajmckay
Beautiful tank! I really like it! +1 a goby or a jawfish might work due to their different characteristics. There are so many to choose from though! Finally, while you're not overstocked, I would carefully weigh the pros and cons of adding another fish. Good luck! Link to comment
shan
Thanks all!! I had the 5 fish which included the filaamented wrasse which was a 3+ inch fish for over a month, and had no negative effects on my tank at all. I REALLY keep the water clean, by skimming, using Poly-Filter, and doing 2g water changes every other day, and 6 g water change on weekends. So I really am not concerned about overstocking at this point. I thought about a yellow or green clown goby, but I am reading that they can hurt sps. I wouldnt mind a Helfrichis, but im concerned about the damsel maybe going after him. I would love to have one of the green/rainbow colored wrasses but I dont know of any that would fit in my tank? reefer916
I'm in the same boat and I'm looking at Goby's. The Yashi Goby's are really nice looking, but a little harder to find. I'd definitely stay away from Blenny's because they nip clam mantles. Link to comment
shan
How about a swales swissguard basslet?? Link to comment
revaltion131
Those basslets can be somewhat reclusive so I'd be concerned that if your damsel was able to bully a different fish to its demise, that it might do the same to the basslet. I might consider an orchid dottyback (be sure it's P. fridmani). However, in my Solana, I maxed at five and had two neon gobies as my fourth and fifth fishes. You wouldn't be overstocked adding one more but as Aj said, I would seriously way pros and cons. Link to comment
jojoe972
neon goby maybe or another goby that isnt so shy Link to comment

Max 3in, very colorful, reef safe. Check this out: http://www.fishchannel.com/fish-species/sa...l-gramma-2.aspx Link to comment

Actually you did experience some of the negative effects of overstocking. Your wrasse was killed due to aggression. Don't forget that there is much more than just your bio-load at stake here! As the available territory for fish diminishes, the territoriality and aggression is will increase! That given, the only types of fish I would consider would be smaller fish that stick to the rockwork. They will hide most of the time so they will be less likely to experience (though not free from) the aggression of other fish. It's still not a guarantee though. Good luck. Link to comment
animalmaster6
Hmm. How about a trio of Neon Gobies or Sharknose Gobies. They would fit well. The tank looks incredible Shan! Link to comment
